"If you want to know who we are ... "The mission of Lamplighters Music Theatre is to share our enthusiasm and love for the works of W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan through productions of their comic operas and of other works of comparable wit, literacy and musical merit. Our company strives to enrich the lives of current and future theatre-goers with productions of the highest artistic quality, and to offer performance opportunities in the unique style of classic music theatre to established and emerging artists alike. Through youth training, programs in schools and community outreach, The Lamplighters aspire to develop young talent and encourage people of all ages to explore the comic appeal and deep musical rewards of this repertoire. Lamplighters Music Theatre was founded in 1952. Since then we have produced the entire Gilbert & Sullivan canon as well as other light opera and musical theatre classics such as The Merry Widow, Die Fledermaus, Of Thee I Sing, My Fair Lady, and A Little Night Music. The Lamplighters are now recognized as one of the world’s pre-eminent Gilbert & Sullivan companies. Critically acclaimed artistic successes include honors for Best Production and Best Overseas Society at the International Gilbert & Sullivan Festival in Buxton, England, an Emmy for our telecast of Trial by Jury and many local awards including Best P Since its debut in a tiny San Carlos theater, Lamplighters Music Theatre has been dedicated to upholding the tradition of light opera and musical theatre, particularly through the production of the operettas of W.S.
